Autumn in Tohoku
Ms. Fumi Okada. Her father said, “You still don’t paint pictures very well, but you mastered in cultivation of apples.”
Her father was a painter, Ken Tsuneda, who was a farmer and painted the pictures of farmers.
He painted more than 300 pictures until he died at the age of 89 in 2000.
He described such emotions and joys in his pictures as follows:
* How happy is to have water to drink in the farm work under the scorching sun!
* Farmers are sleeping on the paths by the paddy fields. They are so sleepy in the morning after having kept watch on water-thieves all night. Water for paddy field.
* They are happy in autumn, the season of harvesting. Farmers share all the pains and joys with their family members and people in the village and celebrate the season.
Ken Tsuneda, who loved the earth of Tsugaru more than anything else, said;
Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn, they are always good seasons, if they come again and again and again.
I am satisfied with this repetition.
Just come again and again!
May they just keep coming!
And autumn brings us plentiful fruits.
